Nicholas Alan Kamps, age 37, was called home to glory on June 29, 2024.
We give thanks to God for the peace he had knowing he was going to be with his Lord and Savior. Nick was a godly man, a loving and faithful husband, a devoted father, and a loyal friend. To know Nick was to love him. He could always make us laugh with a joke or one of his “famous one-liners.” He left an impact on everyone he met.
Nick enjoyed hunting, fishing, trapping and anything that involved being outdoors or using his hands. He also loved singing and had no shame in belting out songs no matter how off key he may have been.
He was blessed to have a job he truly loved, driving a log truck for 17 years. He was a hard worker who would help anyone who needed it and never expected anything in return. Although he loved that job, he loved the job of being a dad most of all.
His patience was remarkable, especially throughout his 13-month journey with stage 4 cancer. He would always bear a smile even on some of the toughest days. He taught and loved his family so well, and we are so thankful for the godly example he was to us right up until the very end.
He will be lovingly remembered and greatly missed by his wife of 17 years, Amanda, their 5 children-Landon, Autumn, Morgan, Amos, & Jonah- and many special family members and friends.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM, Tuesday, July 2, 2024, at Grandville Protestant Reformed Church, 4320 40th Street SW, Grandville MI 49418. Visitation will be 5:00-8:00 PM, Monday, July 1, at the Yntema Funeral Home, 251 S. State Street, Zeeland MI 49464. Interment will be in Jamestown Cemetery.
“I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.” 2 Timothy 4:7-8
