HOLLAND TWP., MI (WHTC-AM/FM, June 29, 2024) – The void left by the departure of what used to be known as Trendway may not be long.
On Friday, the commercial real estate firm Franklin Partners announced the acquisition of the 457,000 square-foot facility off of Quincy Street from Fellowes Brands, a Chicagoland-based company which had purchased the office furniture maker Trendway five years ago, ending a 46-year-old family ownership. In May, Fellowes cited “unrecoverable conditions” in deciding to shutter the plant and permanently lay off 117 employees.
Franklin Partners, with ownership of over 800 acres of zoned industrial land in the Grand Rapids-Kalamazoo-Benton Harbor region, worked with Bixby Bridge Capital in acquiring the Trendway property. Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed. Franklin looks to have the 32-acre property ready for occupancy by the end of the year.
