ALLEGAN, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, June 28, 2024) – A 40-year-old Pullman area man faces a mandatory life in prison without parole sentence after a Wednesday conviction on first-degree murder, assault with intent to murder, and two counts of felony firearm charges stemming from the shooting death of one man and the wounding of a woman.
James Edward Rawson was found guilty by a 48th District Court jury after a trial that began 10 days ago. He has been held in the Allegan County Jail following an arrest on November 4, 2022 at an undisclosed residence in Lee Township. The apprehension came following a call to 911 by his estranged, saying that she had just fled the area after being shot while attempting to pick up her children from their father. Her adult son, 21-year-old Samuel Williams, also came to the scene, and he was found dead on the driveway from gunshot wounds when deputies arrived. Two younger children who escaped safely were found unharmed in a nearby wooded area.
Sentencing for Rawson is set for August 2nd.
