Charlie was born on December 31st, 1933, in Corbin, KY, to Robert and Oplea Monhollon; he was one of 13 children. Charlie was preceded in death by his parents and was the last living sibling of the Monhollon family.
After high school graduation, Charlie entered the US Army where he served as a paratrooper and a member of the military police. Upon completion of his service, he traveled to Michigan where he was employed as a chemical operator at Sumner/Zeeland Chemicals in Zeeland, MI. Around the same time, he met his ‘little Dutch girl” whom he married, they built a home and raised 4 children. Following a 40-year career as a supervisor, he retired. Upon retirement, they went camping, traveled to all 50 states, enjoyed cross country skiing, spent time at their cabin, biking, and spending much time with friends and family: including grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was a long-time member of North Holland Reformed Church, where they were married. Charlie was a wonderful father, grandpa and Opa and will be sadly missed.
Charlie is survived by his wife Leda of 67 years: children Robert A. ‘Bob’ (Marlene) Monhollon, Billy Joe (Beth) Monhollon, Sheri Lynn (Kurt) Schwaiger and Carl Lee (Julie) Monhollon, 9 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, Sister-in-law Ann Hamilton, several nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
