WRIGHT TWP., MI (WHTC-AM/FM, June 23, 2024) – It took about 90 minutes to clear up a three-vehicle pileup on eastbound I-96 near Marne on Saturday.
According to Ottawa County Sheriff’s Sergeant Cassie Tolman, traffic on that highway had slowed down near the 21 mile marker due to a motorist’s vehicle breaking down around 4:50 PM. A 69-year-old Kentwood man didn’t slow down in time, and his vehicle rear-ended one driven by a 37-year-old Muskegon man, causing it to veer sideways and collide with a vehicle driven by a 21-year-old Nunica woman.
A 40-year-old Kentwood woman, a passenger in the initial vehicle, was taken to an undisclosed “Grand Rapids area” hospital for treatment of injuries, while the apparent at-faul motorist suffered bumps and bruises. The other drivers involved were not hurt.
The incident remains under investigation.
