GRAND HAVEN, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, June 20, 2024) – A 33-year-old suburban Atlanta man has been convicted on second degree murder and felony firearm counts stemming from a fatal shooting outside of a Holland Heights apartment complex more than 15 months ago.
A 20th Circuit Court Jury on Thursday convicted James Leonard Taylor after he was arrested following the incident in the area of Abbey Court and Stratford Way on March 3rd. The victim, 54-year-old Aaron James Barlow of Covert, died at the scene from multiple gunshot wounds, and witnesses say that the two men, who had known each other, didn’t live in that apartment complex. Classes at nearby Holland Heights Elementary School were held up for a couple of hours before the suspect was apprehended.
Judge Jon Hulsing has set a July 22nd sentencing date for Taylor, who could face life in prison.
