Mardella Hoffman, age 85, of Kentwood passed away into the arms of her loving Savior on June 16, 2024.
Mardella was the youngest of four girls, the daughter of Harry and Evelyn Schamper. She grew up on a farm in north Holland, MI and graduated from Holland High School. In 1958, she married her high school sweetheart, Ronald Hoffman, and they moved several times around Michigan as Ron finished his college and early work career. In 1966, they moved to Zeeland, MI where they resided for the next 50 years. Mardella worked in administrative roles at various companies in west Michigan, including 7-Up and Herman Miller. But the roles she cherished most were those of mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She also volunteered at various charities and in church roles, most recently at the Crossroads Prison Ministry. She had a passionate heart that truly cared for others, and she strove to let God’s light shine through her.
She is survived by Ronald, her husband of 66 years, to whom she was a dedicated caregiver; her daughters: Amanda and Donald Fowler, Elizabeth and Gary Byma, and Tracy and Eric Lanning; her grandchildren and great grandchildren: Max and Kiarah Fowler (Ivy), Jacob Fowler, Maggie and Jordan Veltema (Cora and Quinn), Aaron Santucci and Alice Darling, Stuart and Ally Lanning, Gabe Lanning, and Charlie Lanning; her sisters Darlene Brink, and Marilyn and Irv Steketee. She was preceded in death by her sister, Marsha Brower.
Mardella was a former member of First Reformed Church in Zeeland and current member at Hudsonville Reformed Church.
