ZEELAND, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, June 16, 2024) – The Lakeshore’s longest-serving governmental operational leader is stepping aside for a while.
During Monday night’s biweekly business meeting, the Zeeland City Council will consider a recommendation by Tim Klunder to appoint Kevin Plockmeyer as Interim City Manager. This is due to Klunder, who has been the City Manager since 2002, needing to go to the University of Chicago for an undisclosed medical treatment that may keep him from his duties for a month or more.
“I believe it would be in the best interest of the city to appoint an Interim City Manager/City Superintendent in case there are legal documents to be signed, questions on administrative decision making, and to appropriately recognize the additional effort that the Assistant City Manager/Finance Director may need to put forth while I am out on extended medical leave.” – Zeeland City Manager Tim Klunder
Plockmeyer has been Klunder’s top assistant for the past three years. Klunder is expected to begin his medical leave in mid-July.
