SAUGATUCK, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, June 10, 2024) – Two major matters of business are before the members of the Saugatuck City Council on Monday evening.
During the 7 PM session in the second floor meeting room of Saugatuck City Hall (102 Butler St.), the governing panel will hold a public hearing before voting on a budget for Fiscal 2025. The $5.83 million spending plan includes a Headlee rollback of the operating millage rate to nearly 10.6 mills, down over two tenth of a mill from last year, and the eighth straight year that this levy has gone down.
The other matter is approving a contract with Ryan Cummins to become the new City Manager. Saugatuck’s Planning and Zoning Administrator had been the interim operational leader when Ryan Heise resigned in February, and emerged as the choice after he and two other finalists were interviewed from 48 who had applied for the job. The $115,000 agreement includes a provision that will enable Cummins to continue serving on the Grand Haven City Council, where he lives.
