MANILA (Reuters) – Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos Jr said the country should be prepared for any eventuality as proximity to Taiwan puts it in China’s area of interest.
“The external threat now has become more pronounced, has become more worrisome,” Marcos said in a statement issued by the presidential palace on Tuesday.
The Philippines is not trying to take territory or redraw lines of sovereign territory including the exclusive economic zone, Marcos said in a talk with military troops.
