HUDSONVILLE, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, May 29, 2024) – A 37-year-old Hudsonville woman remains behind bars after allegedly using her dog as a weapon in a domestic dispute over the holiday weekend.
On Tuesday, Augustina Villarreal was ordered held by Hudsonville District Court Judge Judy Mulder on $100,000 bond after an arraignment on a felonious assault with a dangerous weapon charge. She was arrested in the overnight hours of Saturday morning after deputies and first responders were dispatched to a residence in the area of Barry Street and 32nd Avenue around 2 AM.
The 41-year-old man who called 911 from a neighbor’s house claimed that Villarreal had ordered her dog to attack him during an argument. The canine bit the unnamed victim several times on his arms before he was able to escape the residence through a window. He was taken to an undisclosed hospital for treatment, and is expected to recover from his wounds. The dog was seized by Ottawa County Animal Control on Tuesday and will remain held while the case remains under investigation.
Anyone with any information on the matter is asked to contact the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Department or Ottawa County Silent Observer (877-887-4536).
