TALLMADGE TWP., MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Apr. 30, 2024) – A 73-year-old Muskegon man was injured in a crash involving a SUV and a semi between Allendale and Standale on Tuesday afternoon.
No names were disclosed by Ottawa County Sheriff’s Sergeant Jon Smoes, who was among the first responders at the scene around 4:35 PM on Lake Michigan Drive (M-45) near Linden Drive. It was determined that the motorist had rammed his vehicle into the rear of a semis trailer that had just entered the westbound lanes after making a Michigan turn. After striking the trailer, the SUV went across the median of the divided highway and the eastbound lanes of the trunk road before coming to rest on the south side of LMD.
The injured motorist, who didn’t appear to be buckled up, was taken to Corewell-Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids for treatment of serious but non-life threatening injuries, while the trucker, a 68-year-old Lowell man, was not hurt.
The crash remains under investigation.
