Floyd (Flip) Maat age 101, of Holland, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, April 18, 2024.
Flip was born in Holland to John and Susie (Piers) Maat. Shortly after that the family moved to a farm in South Olive (Crisp) for many years. As a teenager he found the love of his life in Borculo. After serving three years in the Army during WWII, he returned and on August 9, 1946, married Bertha Vanden Heuvel at First Christian Reformed Church in Zeeland. They moved to Holland and became members of Central Avenue Christian Reformed Church where he was still a member. Bertha passed away on November 4, 2023, after 77 years of marriage.
Floyd was preceded in death by his wife, and son Thomas Maat.
Floyd is survived by his children, Sandy and Dave Habers of Zeeland, Kathy and Jerry Roth of Cheboygan, MI, and Chuck and Michelle Maat of Lakeland, Fl; 13 grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren, 5 great great grandchildren; in-laws, Melvin (Mike) and Judee Vanden Heuvel of Battle Creek, June Vanden Heuvel, and Mick Zuverink of Zeeland; many nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the compassionate and attentive staff of Addington Place Lakeside Vista and Gentiva Hospice.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 24, 2024, at Langeland-Sterenberg Funeral Home, 315 E. 16th St. Holland with Rev. Kevin Kornelis officiating. Burial will be in Restlawn Memorial Gardens. There will be a time of visiting and fellowship following the service. Memorial contributions may be given to Gentiva Hospice, Central Avenue CRC, or one’s choice.
