HOLLAND, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Apr. 17, 2024) – The Holland City Council has some budgetary decisions to make on Wednesday night, two weeks before they decide on a spending plan for Fiscal 2025.
During this evening’s 6 PM biweekly business meeting, the Tulip City’s governing panel will be asked to approve a nearly $1.3 million expenditure for a new Pierce Velocity PUC Pumper for the Department of Public Safety Fire Operations unit. It would replace a pumper built in 1995, but it won’t be delivered until sometime in 2028.
Council will also vote on a $1.15 million-dollar bid from Black Gold Transport for resurfacing projects planned for this year. It includes resurfacing Lincoln Avenue, from East 48th to East 64th streets, along with East 64th Street from Lincoln Avenue to M-40 Lincoln Road, Hedcor Street off of Lincoln Avenue, Lugers Road south from West 32nd Street, and the junction of Washington Avenue (Blue Star Highway) and Transport Lane/143rd Avenue. Hot mix asphalt will be laid down, which is seen as being sturdier that other surfaces for handling heavy-duty traffic.
Another vote is expected on a nearly $66,000 bid from Michigan Paving for improving Intersection Drive on the south side, to help deal with the strain of continuous truck traffic.
A public hearing and final vote on the proposed Fiscal 2025 municipal budget is slated for Wednesday, May 1st.
The Holland City Council meets in Chambers at Holland City Hall (270 S. River Ave.). An online link to the agenda and supporting documents is here.
