ZEELAND, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Apr. 15, 2024) – It should be a relatively quiet business meeting for the Zeeland City Council on Monday night.
Among the items on the agenda is the formal setting of a public hearing and final vote on the Fiscal 2025 budget, which will be in three weeks, on Monday, May 6th. City Manager Tim Klunder had went over the $9.48 million overall spending plan with council members earlier this spring, with no tax increases needed to keep the books balanced.
Before the 7 PM meeting, the leadership panel, during its 6 PM study session, will get a report from Zeeland BPW General Manager Andy Boatwright on the first Citizens Academy the municipal utility will hold later this summer. All 15 available slots have been filled, and Mayor Kevin Klynstra is looking forward to seeing this idea Boatwright brought from his previous job in Independence, Missouri.
Klynstra was referring to a mayors’ conference in Midland that he had attended last year in which the idea of a citizens academy was brought up.
The work-study session and business meeting will be in chambers at Zeeland City Hall (21 S. Elm St.). An online link to the agenda and supporting documents is here.
