Barbara Jo Rosales age 74, of Holland, died Wednesday, April 10, 2024 at Corewell Health Butterworth Campus.
She was born and raised in Burr Oak and moved to Holland. She received an associates degree in nursing and worked for Ottawa County Community Mental Health. Barbara enjoyed the Beatles and saw them on their 1st U.S. tour, helping her community, crocheting, and trips up north. She loved to volunteer whenever the chance arose. She volunteered at City on a Hill in Zeeland helping those get healthcare, she was a part of the Holland Human Relations Committee and fought for locals’ rights for housing, would campaign for organ donors at Secretary of State, and went door to door in the 90’s to get a skate park, which is now located off of 16th street and many more instances which helped any and everyone.
She was a pure fighter for people’s rights, from the early 60’s all the way up until her health declined and she couldn’t volunteer anymore. She wanted to help as much as possible.
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Carol (Hogmire) Ankney and is survived by her sons, Stephen Ankney and Joshua Rosales; 6 grandchildren, Sage, Kain, Xaundra, Joshua, Ahleisandra, and Ahvraeum; siblings, Cathy and Doug Wall, Tim and Kathy Ankney, Mark and Theresa Ankney; and many nieces and nephews, who all felt her love from wherever she was.
A time of visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Wednesday, April 17, 2024 at Langeland-Sterenberg Funeral Home, 315 E. 16th St. Holland. Memorial contributions may be given to City on a Hill Ministries Health Clinic. https://www.coahm.org/
