ALLEGAN, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Mar. 30, 2024) – The 2023 Allegan County Community Health Survey Report was released on Friday.
Compiled with the help of the Allegan County Community Foundation, the Multi-Agency Collaborative Council, and Polco, the Allegan County Health Department says that the report provided overall insights of personal and household services, along with preferences for receiving health and wellness information. The data will be used as part of the 2025 Community Health Needs Assessment and Community Health Improvement Plan.
Among the key findings were:
-
Allegan County residents are actively involved in aspects of their health, and are confident in navigating their health system.
-
Behavioral health is good among residents, and while many have not needed to access services in the past year, the community could benefit from more awareness brought to programs and initiatives.
-
The availability and affordability of quality housing is an issue in Allegan County, and most residents are unaware of housing resources and support.
-
Most residents feel that there are an adequate number of parks in Allegan County, but there is a desire for more recreational and social activities.
“Utilizing this data, we can steer targeted interventions and make informed decisions. The insights gathered from the community health survey offer invaluable guidance, positively impacting the well-being of every individual within our community.” – Allegan County Community Foundation President/CEO Stephanie Calhoun.
