In loving memory of Wesley Neal “Wes” Batts, who passed away peacefully March 21st, 2024 at his home surrounded by loved ones. With heavy hearts but also joyous memories, we celebrate the life of a remarkable man whose presence brought laughter, love, and faith into our lives.
Wes was born May 30th, 1959 in Detroit, Mi to Martin and Anne Batts. He married his wonderful wife of over 40 years, Deb (Locke) Batts on September 23rd, 1983. His children Rachel (Jack) Bouwman and Kyle (Nita) Batts provided him the honor of being an amazing grandfather to Jace (12), Tripp (8), Maddax (4), and Hudson (2). Wes has 2 brothers Mike (Diane) and Tim (Brenda) Batts, as well as 2 sisters Marcy (Curt) Brower and Amy Cashen. His family continued to grow with his in-laws Robert and Carol Locke and sister-in-law’s Wendy (Brian) Ahearne and Sandy (Joel) Mulder. Wes had many more friends and extended family he will be greatly missed by.
Wes was not just a father; he was a light, a source of unwavering support, and a fountain of wisdom. His quick wit, infectious laughter, and zingers could brighten even the darkest of days, and his love knew no bounds. Whether regaling us with his hilarious life stories or sharing invaluable life lessons, he always had a way of making us smile. Wes was full of adventure and spent his life balancing work and play. He loved anything active and outdoors and spent as much time adventuring with his wife Deb as he could.
Beyond his wisdom and humor, Wes was a devoted family man. He cherished every moment spent with his children, grandchildren, and extended family, leaving behind a legacy of love and laughter that will endure for generations to come. It was incredibly important to him to provide for his family through honest, hard work. After graduating Jenison High School he went on to get his bachelors degree from Western Michigan University College of Engineering and Applied Sciences. Wes spent over 35 years in engineering with the same company most well known as Prince Corp/Johnson Controls. He held multiple leadership positions over the years helping to open and lead plants all over the globe.
Though he may have left this world early, Wes will forever remain in our hearts, guiding us with his wisdom, inspiring us with his love, and watching over us from above. As we mourn his loss, let us also celebrate the memories we shared and the profound impact he had on each of our lives.

A memorial service is planned for 3:00 pm, Friday, March 29, 2024 at Dykstra Funeral Homes – Northwood Chapel, 295 Douglas Avenue in Holland.
Visitation will be from 1:00 pm – 2:45 pm prior to the service.
