GRAND HAVEN TWP., MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Mar. 22, 2024) – A three-vehicle pileup south of Grand Haven hospitalized a 78-year-old Grand Haven woman on Friday morning.
No names were disclosed by Ottawa County Sheriff’s Sergeant Matt Wildfong, as responding deputies believe that the woman was driving her SUV south on US-31 around 10:30 AM and didn’t stop for a red light at the intersection with Ferris Street. She collided with a westbound SUV, driven by a 42-year-old Grand Haven man, and the force of the crash caused the man’s vehicle to veer into an eastbound sedan, driven by a 16-year-old Grand Haven girl.
The apparent at-fault motorist was taken to Trinity Health in Grand Haven for treatment of injuries that Wildfong said were not considered life-treatening, while the other two drivers were not hurt. Ferris Street was closed west of the US-31 for a period of time as a result of the crash, which remains under investigation.
