HOLLAND TWP., MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Mar. 20, 2024) – A 37-year-old Holland man suffered critical injuries after a moving van rear-ended a stopped semi on Wednesday afternoon.
According to Ottawa County Sheriff’s Sergeant Jon Knott, a 30-year-old Benton Harbor man driving the tanker had halted for a red light on northbound US-31 near Felch Street just before 2 PM. As he was waiting for the signal to change, the rig was hit by the van.
The unnamed Holland man was flown to Corewell-Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids for treatment, while the trucker wasn’t hurt. Both directions of US-31 was closed at that junction for several hours.
Knott didn’t disclose any names, nor mention any circumstances as to what led the van to collide with the semi, as the crash remains under investigation.
