HOLLAND TWP., MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Mar. 20, 2024) – A 22-year-old Holland man is free on bond following an arraignment on charges stemming from a late Tuesday night crash east of the Tulip City.
According to Ottawa County Sheriff’s Detective Captain Jake Sparks, deputies were dispatched to the area of Adams Street near Black River Drive, just off of the I-196 junction, just before 12 Midnight. That was where two sedans with substantial damage had stopped, and after talking with the two drivers involved, it was determined that one of the vehicles had intentionally rammed the other several times while heading westbound on Adams Street. Neither driver was hurt.
The driver that allegedly did the ramming, Jaren Sabala, was taken into custody, while an unnamed 39-year-old Holland woman was allowed to go home. Sabala was arraigned on Wednesday in 58th District Court on a felony count of assault with a dangerous weapon and reckless driving, and was able to post a $5,000 personal recognizance bond.
The case remains open, and anyone who may have more information on the incident is asked to contact the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Department or Ottawa County Silent Observer (877-887-4536).
