Two Hope College spring student-athletes have been honored by the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association: senior Sydney Zombo in softball and junior Jonathan Eggleston in men’s tennis.
Zombo (Clinton Township, Michigan / Fraser HS) is the MIAA Softball Position Player of the Week for the first time in her career.
The leftfielder batted leadoff and hit .556 over three games last week in Illinois while helping the Flying Dutch win two of them.
A public accounting and business major, Zombo recorded nine hits, including a solo home run, and two RBIs.
Eggleston (Yuseong Gu, Daejeon / Taejon Christian International School) is the MIAA Men’s Tennis Athlete of the Week for the first time in his career.
The junior won two points during the Flying Dutchmen’s 7-2 loss at Lake Forest College (Ill.) on Friday.
A public accounting and business major, Eggleston teamed with Cooper Nugent for an 8-5 win at No. 3 doubles, then earned a 6-1, 6-2 victory at No. 6 singles.
