GEORGETOWN TWP., MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Feb. 19, 2024) – A 38-year-old man began this work week in the Ottawa County Jail after attempting to flee from deputies south of Jenison on Sunday evening.
According to Sheriff’s Sergeant Keith Biros, those deputies were in the area of 8th Avenue and Jackson Street around 8 PM, investigating a traffic situation, when the man apparently drove his sedan through in what was only described as a “reckless” manner that those in brown observed. When the deputies tried to stop this vehicle, it attempted to run head on into a department prowl car and sped off.
A brief chase then ensued, as the sedan drove north to 44th Street, east to Wilson Avenue in Grandville, and then south before being finally stopped at a home improvement shopping complex, where the suspect was arrested without further incident. No reported injuries or damage to property were reported as a result of this chase.
The suspect awaits arraignment on various charges in Hudsonville District Court.
