HOLLAND TWP., MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Feb. 13, 2024) – A four-year-old Holland boy suffered critical injuries after being thrown from the van that he was a passenger in during a two-vehicle crash east of the Tulip City on Tuesday evening.
No names of anyone involved were immediately disclosed by Ottawa County Sheriff’s Sergeant Brad Bennett as he and other first responders were dispatched to I-196 near the Adams Street junction at 5:40 PM. That was where a Dodge van, driven by a 45-year-old Holland man, collided with a Toyota sedan and rolled over. The man and a 30-year-old woman suffered minor injuries, while a three-year-old girl who were also a passenger was not hurt. A 42-year-old Alto man driving the sedan was not injured.
The freeway was closed for about three hours as a result of the crash, and Bennett also didn’t mention too much as to what led to the incident. Anyone who may have seen the vehicles involved prior to the collision or have any additional information on the matter is asked to contact Ottawa County Central Dispatch (800-249-0911) or Ottawa County Silent Observer (877-887-4536).
