Sylvia Yvette Ma’Ayteh

Sylvia was born in Chicago and most recently lived in Fennville. She earned her Bachelor’s degree from DePaul University and was a high school history teacher for many years at Tilden High until her retirement. She was known for her great style as well as her cooking talents.

She was preceded in death by her father Sam Ma’Ayteh and partner Bryan Hughes.

Sylvia is survived by daughter Joanie Hughes and son Jack (Maria) Zuniga; grandchildren Jack and Amelia, as well as Joanie’s beloved dog Charlie and cat Olive.

Services are being planned for April, and details will be posted as they become available. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Sylvia’s family.
