DEARBORN, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Jan. 29, 2024) – It is costing a bit less to fill the gas tank now than a week ago in the state.
Triple-A Michigan says the statewide average for gas is $2.95 a gallon as of dawn this morning, a seven penny drop from last week and 52 cents lower than at this time last year. A 15-gallon fill up costs $44 on average, down around $14 from the peak price last August.
Howard Hughey with the Auto Club in Dearborn says that, although Spring Break is just around the corner with increased demand as a result, fuel rates may not necessarily rise.
Spring and summer travel is not that far away, either.
The state’s most expensive gas is in Jackson at $3.01, while Grand Rapids have the lowest price at $2.87. Ottawa County is at $2.85; Allegan at $2.93.
