Donald Junior Posthuma, 71, died 22nd of January 2024 following a hard-fought battle to ANCA Vasculitis.
Donald Junior was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan on February 29, 1952, to Donald and Sophia Posthuma. He grew up and attended school in Caledonia before serving in the army in the Vietnam War. In 1984 he was happily married to Cheryl Posthuma, who was his partner in life for almost 33 years until her death in 2015. They raised 2 sons, Michael and Adam. Don and his family moved to Allegan in 1989. He worked as a carpenter most of his life and spent much of his free time hunting, fishing, and enjoying time with his family. In his later years, he spent most of his free time watching any old western he could find, (although Gunsmoke was his favorite) and the Detroit Lions. He also enjoyed quiet afternoons sitting outside his home, listening to birds and watching the sunlight pass through the ferns (Cheryl’s favorite) that decorated his porch.
He is survived by his children, Adam Posthuma and Michael Rysko, daughter-in-law Heidi Rysko, and grandchildren Kaitlyn, Abigail, Logan, Zach, and Levi Rysko, and siblings Virginia and Bonnie Kindig, and Bob and Ken Posthuma. He will be deeply missed by his friends, family, and all who knew him.
