Hope College swimmer Ben Catton and diver Justin Romero have been chosen as the MIAA Men’s Swimming and Diving Athletes of the Week.
This is the first MIAA weekly honor of the season for both and the second of Romero’s career.
Romero (Detroit, Michigan / Woodhaven HS) won both boards during the 16th-ranked Flying Dutchmen’s 155-70 victory against Albion College and a 1541-71 victory against Alma College on Saturday at Hudsonville High School.
The sophomore posted a 3-meter score of 235.85 points and a 1-meter total of 190.50.
Catton (Holland, Michigan / Holland Christian) clocked a 100-yard butterfly time of 48.48 seconds on Friday at Oakland University which is believed to be the fastest time in NCAA Division III over the weekend.
The senior also finished third in the 50 freestyle on Friday with a swim of 21.39 seconds.
Catton recorded a 100 freestyle swim of 46.02 seconds at Oakland.
On Saturday, Catton led off the winning 400 medley relay that posted a time of 3:36.59.
