Pastor Philip James Schout, age 77 of Hudsonville, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, January 23, 2024.
He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Shelby Schout; siblings: John (Judy) Schout, Sharon (Lon) Rupp, Beverly (Harvin) Geerts; sisters-in-law, Arloa Schout, Marilyn Overbey; and many nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, James & Dora Schout; brother, Dave Schout; and brother-in-law, William “Ronnie” Overbey.
Pastor Schout attended the Grand Rapids Baptist College and transferred to Baptist Bible College in Springfield, MO. He received his Doctorate degree from Dothan Theological Seminary. He was in the ministry for almost 53 years including pastoring at Jenison Baptist Temple and Temple Baptist Church of Jamestown.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. on Friday, January 26, 2024 at Harvest Baptist Church, 5444 Pleasant Ave. Hudsonville, 49426. A funeral service will take place at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, January 27, 2024 also at the church. Burial will be in Georgetown Cemetery.
