Ronald E. Miedema, age 85, of Hudsonville, was called to his Heavenly Home on Friday, January 5, 2024.
Ron was a faithful member of Ottawa Reformed Church and a US Veteran. His skill in building will be missed by his family and friends, as he was able to fix just about anything. He was a hard worker who especially enjoyed farming. He loved to go camping and spend time in Florida.
He was preceded in death by his brothers: Maynard Miedema, and Rog Miedema.
Ron is survived by his wife of 50 years, Arloa; children: Rick (Mary) Miedema, Roland (Terri) Miedema, Renee (Daryl) Hop, Rhonda (Bob) Schreur, Rodney Miedema (Damir Jukic); grandchildren and great grandchildren: Chase Miedema (Carter, Vayda); Katelyn & Matt Fortney (Alyssa, Ethan, Brianna, Logan, Lilly); Blair & Abbie Miedema (Bodie, Jovie); Gavin & Telissa Miedema (Liam); Chelsea & Brandon Ridge (Nora, Kinley); Laurie & Trevor Koopman (Kaden, and baby girl on the way); Trevor & Kara Miedema (baby boy on the way); Tyler & Andrea Hop (Harper, Haven, Jayce, Josie); Josh & Jenna Hop (Bryce, Landen, Hadley); Amber & Eben Amankwah (Aliza, Zoe); Laura & Jordan Mast (Luella, Lettie); Leah & Mike Vriezema (Everly, and baby girl on the way); Reid & Collette Schreur (Rosemary, William); Randin Schreur; Robbie Schreur.
He is also survived by his siblings: Dale (Helaine) Miedema, Mitzi Miedema, Nelson (Karen) Miedema, Marcia Palmbos (Phil Hamming), Bud (Robin) Miedema, Randy (Lindley) Miedema, Ken (Lis) Miedema; and siblings-in-law: Hilda (Jer) Holstege, Harlan (Kathy) Van Rhee, Phyllis (Mike) Debski, and Cheryl De Wilde.
A time of visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 9, 2024 at Yntema Funeral Home, 251 S. State Street, Zeeland. A funeral service, with Rev. Michael Van Buren and Dr. Jim Poit officiating, will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 10, 2024 at Ottawa Reformed Church, 11390 Stanton, West Olive. The service will be livestreamed, and a link will be added soon. Private family burial will be at Restlawn Memorial Gardens. Memorial contributions may be given to the Ottawa Reformed New Church Fund or Corewell Hospice.
