ALLEGAN, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Jan. 8, 2023) – The issue of human trafficking gets a national spotlight this month and this week.
During this National Human Trafficking Awareness Month, as well as this National Human Trafficking Awareness Week from Jan. 8-12, state police motor carrier officers are teaming up with other law enforcement entities, the Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance, and Truckers Against Trafficking in educating motorists about the signs of human trafficking, as well as enforcing laws that crack down on traffickers.
It’s an issue that Allegan County Sheriff Frank Baker and his deputies are well aware of.
The perception of this crime normally comprising of a runaway child falling prey has changed.
