OLIVE TWP., MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Jan. 7, 2024) – A natural impulse for someone who gets a new job is to crow about it before it’s made official.
That seems to be the case for Jason Schenkel, as the 50-year-old Grand Haven area man went to social media during the Christmas-New Year’s holiday week to announce his appointment as the director of a newly-expanded Ottawa County Department of Veterans Affairs. The hire was made official this past Tuesday as he appeared before the county Board.
A two-decade US Army veteran who was among those seeking work following this past August’s closing of Yellow Trucking, Schenkel will oversee a department that was created through an over $240,000 budget allotment from the County Board last year.
