ALLENDALE TWP., MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Jan. 3, 2024) – An 18-year-old Allendale man has been arraigned on charges stemming from a New Year’s morning incident near the GVSU campus that wounded a 17-year-old boy.
On Tuesday, Noah Randolph was formally charged with one count of felonious assault in Hudsonville District Court and was released by posting a thousand dollars of a $10,000 bond. No date for a preliminary hearing was immediately disclosed.
According to Ottawa County Sheriff’s Sergeant Chris Dill, deputies and other first responders were dispatched to a residence in the area of Richfield and Pierce streets around 1 AM on Monday. That was where a dispute arose about 45 minutes earlier in which what Dill said was a “known suspect” inflicted the wound upon the victim using a “multiple-edged weapon.” The wound was not life-threatening, and the teen, who was taken to an undisclosed “Grand Rapids area hospital” for treatment, has since been released and is expected to make a full recovery.
Randolph was taken into custody by deputies a short time late without further incident. No other suspects are “outstanding” at this time, according to Dill, and although the matter took place near off-campus housing for Grand Valley State University, the sergeant said that it didn’t involve the school or any persons related to GVSU.
The incident remains under investigation.
