Harold (Herk) Vollink, age 78, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, January 1, 2024, following a two-year battle with cancer.
Herk was born on February 3, 1945, to George and Grace Vollink. Herk attended Faith Reformed Church in Zeeland where he served as Deacon and Elder.
He worked at Lake Welding Supply in Holland and Muskegon for 40 years, retiring in 2008. He loved going to work every day and always said “This is the best place to work in West Michigan”.
During the day, Herk loved recreation fast pitch softball and volleyball but his true love was playing golf a few times a week with the same group at Winding Creek Golf Course for the last 30 years. He and wife, Linda, the love of his life, spent many winters in Arizona in the 5th wheel. He was married to Linda for 56 years and his family meant the world to him. Herk provided stability, support, and strength to his family and made a positive impact on the lives of many. He will be truly missed.
He was preceded in death by son-in-law, Paul Treffers; and sister, Marilyn Tenckinck.
He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Linda Vollink; daughter, Rebecca and Matt VanderKooi; daughter, Rachel Treffers (friend, Jamie Meyer); grandchildren, Anna and Nate Schulz, Holly VanderKooi, Nick and Michelle Scholl, Taylor Scholl (Krissy Sluiter); great-grandchildren, Will, Maddy, Nora; and brother-in-law, Jim Tenckinck.
Visitation with the family is 4:00-7:00 pm on Friday, January 5, 2024, at Yntema Funeral Home, 251 S. State St. Zeeland, MI 49464.
Memorial services are at 10:00 am on Saturday, January 6, 2024, at Faith Reformed Church, 220 West Central Ave. Zeeland, MI 49464 with Rev. Jonathan Elgersma officiating.
Burial to take place in West Drenthe cemetery.
