Rev. Jerry L. Alferink, age 78, of Holland, died to the Lord on Friday, December 29, 2023.
His was a life accompanied by the blessings of God which he generously shared with others. As a pastor in the Christian Reformed Church, he served congregations in Illinois, Washington, California, Colorado, and Michigan. He loved preaching the Word of God and singing the songs of the church. His ministry was filled with dedication, love, energy, and humor. Jerry also found joy in farming, fishing, hunting, travel, and storytelling. He had a deep love for his beloved wife, Darlene, of 57 years, and was a wonderful father and grandfather to: Michelle and Tom Jager (Luke, Austin and Hannah, Alexa and Daniel Sculley), Matthew and Joy Alferink (Claire, Jed, Joelle, Liz), Mark and Heather Alferink (Ava Wickstra, Harper, Grace). He is also survived by his sister, Glenda and Don Pinkham; in-laws, Lynn and Sally Mulder, Beverly and Jon Klynstra, Chris and Lori Mulder; several nieces and nephews.

He was the son of Fred and Margaret Alferink who preceded him in death as well as a brother Harold, and parents-in-law, Peter and Gladys Mulder.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 2, 2024 at Graafschap Christian Reformed Church, 5973 Church St. Holland with Rev. Stan Scripps officiating. Burial will be in Pilgrim Home Cemetery. Visitation will be 2-5 p.m. Monday, January 1, at Graafschap Christian Reformed Church. Memorial contributions may be given to Graafschap Christian Reformed Church and Holland Christian Schools.
