Guard Jada Garner has been selected as the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Women’s Basketball Athlete of the Week.
This is the first time the junior from Midland, Michigan (H.H. Dow HS) has received weekly honors from the MIAA.
Garner is recognized after helping the Flying Dutch claim their Post Exam Jam title last week with victories against Augustana College (Ill.) and nationally-ranked Millikin University (Ill.).
The exercise science major was named the Post Exam Jam’s Most Valuable Player last week.
Garner averaged 13 points and 4.5 assists per game during the tournament while shooting 50% from 3-point range (5-10).
Garner also was a primary defender on the nation’s leading scorer, Millikin’s Elyce Knudsen, to 10 points under her season scoring average.
