HUDSONVILLE, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Dec. 22, 2023) – Although it is far from being motorcycle weather along the Lakeshore right now, a 44-year-old Hudsonville man who hoped to get one more ride in before winter was hospitalized after a Friday afternoon crash.
According to Ottawa County Sheriff’s Sergeant Michael Tamminga, the unnamed biker was southbound in the left lane on 32nd Avenue near Beechwood just before 3 PM when a vehicle to his right drove into the left lane, apparently oblivious to the motorcycle. The biker was able to avoid colliding with the vehicle, but lost control of his machine, which came to rest in the roadway.
The unhelmeted motorcyclist was taken to an undisclosed “local hospital” in stable condition. Tamminga did not indicate if the apparent at-fault vehicle driver, who was not identified, had stopped following the crash, or drove off unaware of what the actions did cause, as the incident remains under investigation.
