PAW PAW TWP., MI (WKZO/WHTC) – An investigation is ongoing after a 27-year-old South Haven area man and a 31-year-old Covert man were admitted to separate local hospitals Saturday night for treatment of two gunshot wounds each.
Officials at Bronson Lakeview Hospital in South Haven notified the Van Buren County Sheriff’s Office around 10:30 a.m. that the first victim was initially treated at that facility before being sent to Bronson’s main hospital in Kalamazoo in serious condition.
A short time later, staffers at Lakeland Hospital in Watervliet reported that the other man had also been admitted with two gunshot wounds, although his injuries were not considered life-threatening.
Detectives have determined that the two related incidents occurred at a location near Paw Paw, but that it was isolated in nature.
No names were disclosed, no motive was immediately determined, and no suspects were in custody as of dawn Sunday, as the matter remains under investigation.
