SOUTH HAVEN, MI (WHTC/WKZO) – Two persons are behind bars after a Thursday bust at a mobile home that was purportedly dealing with large amounts of methamphetamine in South Haven.
According to the Van Buren County Sheriff’s Department, narcotics detectives executed a search warrant of a unit in the 17000 block of Blue Star Highway, south of 16th Avenue, around 12:15 p.m. Information that there was a large amount of narcotics trafficking occurring at that residence led to the warrant.
When deputies and South Haven police officers knocked on the door of the trailer, two persons inside refused to emerge, and sounds could be heard of them running back and forth. After police broke the windows out and bark out orders, the two suspects, a 53-year-old man and a 46-year-old woman, stepped out and surrendered without further incident.
Another person, a 48-year-old man in a separate camper, proved to be cooperative, as the detectives located what was initially described as a “large” amount of meth inside of the mobile home, along with evidence of delivery taking place. In a garage, a moped reported as stolen was recovered, along with other items that may have also been stolen.
No names were initially disclosed as the two suspects were taken to the Van Buren County Jail, and once the case has been handed over to the county prosecutor’s office, they should be facing various charges.
Anyone with any further information is asked to contact the county sheriff’s office (269)657-3101, Crime Stoppers (800)342-7867, or Van Buren County Silent Observer (269)343-2100.
