GRAND RAPIDS, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Nov. 28, 2023) – A 29-year-old Muskegon man is facing seven and a half years in a federal prison following a Monday sentence at US District Court.
Casey Johnson was convicted of three counts of firearm theft and three counts of felony firearm possession. He was arrested following several incidents last February at Michigan Pawn Brokers in which three long guns and four handguns were taken from the Robbins Road establishment in Grand Haven.
An unnamed manager of the store told the Grand Haven Tribune at the time that a grinder was used to cut through metal, and then the perpetrator smashed in the front door and the gun case to get to the weaponry. A coalition of law enforcement officers converged at an undisclosed motel room where Johnson was staying, and recovered two of 11 firearms taken in the string of robberies that also included other unnamed victimized businesses.
