She was born on October 3, 1938, in Holland, Michigan, to her loving parents, Richard and Janet Dirkse.
Janice’s deep-rooted faith guided her throughout her life. She graduated from Calvin College and received a Masters in Social Work from the University of Michigan. Before starting her family, she dedicated her time and passion to helping others at Bethany Christian Services. Janice displayed her nurturing and caring nature in homemaking for her family. Later, when her children had grown, Janice resumed her career as a social worker in a nursing home, where she brought joy and comfort to the residents and their families.
She was an active member of Third Christian Reformed Church, where she shared her unwavering commitment to her faith, participating in a wide variety of ministries, including Bible studies, and mentoring.
Janice will always be remembered for her serene demeanor, her kind and gentle spirit, and her unwavering devotion to her family and faith. She is survived by her sons: Bruce (Cheryl) Wyma, Keith (Tanya) Wyma, Jonathan (Katherine) Wyma; grandchildren: Nathanael, Adrielle, Ian, Colin, Hope, Rose, Elspeth, and Samuel. She also leaves behind her dear brother Ronald (Miki) Dirkse.
Janice was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Richard Wyma in 2010, as well as her sister and brother-in-law, Marilyn and Floyd Reimink.
The funeral service to celebrate Janice’s life will be at 10:00 AM on Monday, November 20, 2023, at Third Christian Reformed Church, 10 West Central Ave. Zeeland, MI, 49464. Visitation will be from 2:00-5:00 PM on Sunday, November 19 at Yntema Funeral Home, 251 South State Street, Zeeland, MI 49464.
