OLIVE TWP., MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Nov. 14, 2023) – It was another day of inaction for the Ottawa County Board.
Commissioners were scheduled to hold its biweekly meeting on Tuesday, but before taking up any of the items on the agenda, they approved going into a closed session. When they emerged after six and a half hours behind closed doors, a motion was approved to recess without having completed any of the public agenda items for the day.
The likely issue is the reported settlement agreement between the Board and Administrative Health Officer Adeline Hambley. Media outlets have reported that the sides are negotiating an agreement that could pay Hambley over $4 million in exchange for her resignation and dropping a lawsuit she currently has against the Board and the county. No update was given by either side. and the Board is expected to take up the issue again in two weeks’ time.
The board had published a full agenda for the meeting and those items will be heard when the board convenes on Tuesday, November 22nd. The termination hearing for Hambley began on October 24th.
