VICTORIA, BC (WHTC-AM/FM, Nov. 9, 2023) – There’s something about Holland that organizations which spotlight flowers just find fascinating.
Last week, Tulip Time Festival Executive Director Gwen Auwerda accepted the first annual Flower Festival of the Year honor during the International Garden Tourism Conference held in the Vancouver area. The award spotlights celebrations centered around a flower or flowers, and is the latest in a series of similar accolades for Holland’s annual signature event, including Best Flower Festival from USA Today, Tulip Festival of the Year from the World Tulip Summit Society, America’s Best Small Town Festival from Reader’s Digest, Award for Excellence from Premier Tourism Magazine, and much more.
“I am deeply honored to accept this award, which serves as a testament to the collective efforts, dedication, and unwavering commitment of a remarkable team. This recognition not only acknowledges our past achievements but also inspires us to continue pushing boundaries and striving for excellence. In the spirit of this accolade, we remain steadfast in our pursuit of innovation and creativity to support our legacy of cultural exchange. It is an incredible honor, which motivates us to reach even greater heights.” – Gwen Auwerda
Auwerda and Holland Area Visitors Bureau Executive Director Linda Hart were featured speakers at the IGTC, which brought 90 delegates from 12 countries together for seminars on serving visitors, collaborating with the tourism industry, and developing advantages of tourism visits. Hart has represented Holland in the America in Bloom urban landscape awareness competition in which the Tulip City has emerged with several awards over the years.
The 95th Tulip Time Festival is slated for May 4th through the 12th.
