GRAND RAPIDS, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Nov. 3, 2023) – A new college will be a part of Grand Valley State University when Academic Year 2025 begins.
On Friday, the Board of Trustees approved a plan to elevate and expand the school of computing, which is currently part of the College of Engineering and Computing, into its own college by next fall. In a university statement, the move would create additional program capacity to meet a goal of tripling the number of graduates in high-tech disciplines over the next decade.
“This new college represents a visionary investment that will allow Grand Valley to stay at the forefront of technology and innovation by preparing students with future-ready skills that will drive both the local and state economies. At the same time, the Padnos College of Engineering can sharpen its focus on broadening the robust engineering programs, experiential learning and community partnerships that have long set our graduates apart.” – GVSU President Philomena V. Mantella
Work on establishing this new college and hiring deans will now begin, and current students’ programs will not be affected by this move.
