MUSKEGON, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Nov. 2, 2023) – A 38-year-old Muskegon man is in the Ottawa County Jail, awaiting arraignment on charges stemming from a series of storage unit burglaries in the Spring Lake-Grand Haven vicinity.
According to Sheriff’s Detective Captain Jake Sparks, over a dozen of such break ins were reported over the past few days, although he didn’t specify as to the exact locations or on what dates the crimes were committed. There were signs of forced entry, and items such as tools, furniture, fishing tackle, electronics, a moped and personal belongings were taken.
On Thursday morning, the unnamed suspect was taken into custody, and a number of stolen items valued at over $15,000 was recovered at a residence in Muskegon. Investigators are working to identify the victims and returning the property taken, while the county prosecutor’s office are finalizing formal charges to be presented in Grand Haven District Court.
