LANSING, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Nov. 2, 2023) – A Marne firm that helps companies with manufacturing production is getting a financial boost from Lansing.
On Thursday, the Michigan Strategic Fund, through Governor Whitmer’s office, announced that DeWys Metal Solutions is the recipient of a $560,000 Jobs Ready Michigan performance-based grant in order to construct a new facility at its existing site off of 8th Avenue. The building is part of a $3.4 million capital investment, and would led to 80 manufacturing, engineering and administrative jobs. The state money should be augmented by a proposed local 12-year tax abatement that is before the Wright Township board.
“DeWys has seen significant growth over the past 45 years. As the company continues to grow and expand, we are being strategic and intentional with the solutions offered to keep meeting our customers’ increasing needs. Rebranding in 2021 as DeWys Metal Solutions not only strengthened the brand identity, but it also aligned the division of companies to create a structure for expansion and additional acquisitions in the future. Staying committed to the success of all stakeholders is the DeWys way. This means caring about each other’s personal, professional, and financial goals. This grant will provide us the tools necessary to do just that.” – Mark Schoenborn, president of DeWys Metal Solutions
DeWys currently operates facilities in Marne and in Grand Haven, employing about 280 employees in providing custom metal fabrication, laser cutting, power coating, product assembly, and engineering/design services to several industries nationwide.
