PARK TWP., MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Nov. 1, 2023) – The first injury crash of the 2023-24 winter driving season along the Lakeshore was recorded on Tuesday afternoon.
According to Ottawa County Sheriff’s Sergeant Brad Bennett, deputies and other first responders were dispatched to Riley Street near 146th Avenue on Holland’s North Side shortly after 3 PM. That was where an eastbound minivan lost control on a snow-covered road and collided with a westbound West Ottawa Public Schools bus head on.
There were about 30 students on board that bus at the time, and they, along with its driver, were not hurt. The 44-year-old Holland woman behind the wheel of the minivan suffered minor injuries and was taken to a “local hospital” for treatment, while a 15-year-old boy riding in that vehicle was unhurt.
The incident remains under investigation.
