Lucille was born October 23, 1950, in Zeeland, Michigan, to Harvey and Shirley (Ver Strate) Avink. Lucy graduated from Hudsonville High School. She started driving truck out of necessity as a young woman, and found she enjoyed driving. Lucy continued driving professionally until her retirement. She was an avid softball player, retiring from the field at age 66. Lucy was a longtime Hudsonville Fair Board volunteer and Board Member.
She was preceded in death by her husband Leon Lynema, her parents, and her brothers: Brian Avink and Gary Avink, her daughter-in-law Joyce Tripp, and her grandchildren: Jordan Erlanger, and Baby Kelly Tripp.
Lucy is survived by her children: Pamela & Charles Steinke, Ed Tripp, Sherry & Kyle Weber, Scott Tripp; daughter-in-law Julie Tripp; step-son Craig & Mary Lynema, grandchildren: Heidi Erlanger, Nick Erlanger, Joshua Tripp, Josiah Tripp, Jenessa Tripp, Dustin & Kelly Tripp, Mekaya Tripp, Corey & Sophia Tripp, Alaina & Ethan Hughes, Holly & Isaac Postma, Brittney & Shane Vander Boon, Gina Tripp, Clayton Tripp, Blake Tripp, Nora Tripp, Linsey Tripp, Judson Tripp; two great-grandchildren: Cole Postma, Beau Tripp; siblings: twin sister Lois & Alvin Hewitt, Krystal & Dennis Adcock, Beverly & Greg Brower, Daniel Avink, Donald Avink, Anna Kay & Harold Mulder, Zane & Terri Chapman; in-law: Sally Avink, Rhonda Avink, Melvin & Sandy Lynema, JoAnn Kiger, Karen Lynema; as well as many extended family and friends.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am, Friday, November 3, 2023, at Crosswind Community Church, 1683 142nd Ave., Dorr, MI 49323. A time of visitation with Lucy’s family will be 4:00PM-7:00PM, Thursday, Nov. 2, at the Yntema Funeral Home, 251 South State Street, Zeeland MI 49464. Interment will be in Jamestown Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to NYU Langone’s Dysautonomia Center for MSA Parkinson’s Disease Research.
