HOLLAND, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Oct. 30, 2023) – Millions of Americans are struggling with hunger.
A new report from the US Department of Agriculture shows that more than 44 million Americans were living in food-insecure households in 2022, up more than 10 million from the previous year. In a press release on the report, Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack called the findings “unacceptable.”
Krista Burgett, Lakeshore Food Rescue Manager with Holland’s Community Action House, is on the proverbial “front lines” when it comes to food insecurity locally.
The USDA adds that, of the millions of food-insecure American households, it includes more than 13 million children.
