ALLEGAN, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Oct. 23, 2023) – Allegan County is going to bolster pet rescue efforts within its jurisdiction.
Earlier this month, the Board of Commissioners approved up to $100,000 for a new agreement that will shift the role of Wishbone Pet Rescue, which has managed the county animal shelter for more than a decade, but it’s contract with the county expires at the end of the year.
Board Chairman Jim Storey of Holland explained in a recent appearance on “WHTC Talk of the Town.”
In addition to Wishbone, which is based in Douglas, other rescue operators are located in Fennville and Otsego. The county employs two animal control officers who pick up abandoned or menacing dogs and cats.
